Human-Machine Communication in Hybrid Knowledge-Intensive Work
Short description
Working with AI involves more than asking a system a question. People contribute data and training, customise tools and prompts, and interpret machine-generated guidance. This project investigates these different forms of communication in knowledge-intensive occupations and follows how workers understand their roles as human and machine contributions become intertwined.
The research will examine how interaction patterns develop, become established, break down or change over time. It will make visible the communicative work needed to sustain hybrid working arrangements and develop a taxonomy of interaction patterns. Findings will inform design and governance principles for accountable human–AI collaboration.
